This Star Trek movie really has a lot for folks who have experience with the Trek franchise and those who know nothing about it. I love how they put all the proper cliches in – “damnit man, I’m a doctor not a physicist.” And the green alien, classic!
A quick word about the characters. I thought the actors were all pretty well-cast into the role they played. Karl Urban as Dr. McCoy was outstanding; intense, deprecating, angry. On a side note, Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock and Syler on Heroes, is also from Pittsburgh! Yeah, represent.
But you don’t have to get the inside jokes to enjoy the movie. It’s a fast-paced movie, with lots of action and little downtime. I don’t want to give away the story so just go see it with an open mind. You won’t be disappointed.
